NORMAL, Ill. – Head coach Mark Klysner earned his 100th win as head coach Friday, Feb. 8 with two Redbird victories over UIS and Eastern Illinois at the Bloomington Tennis Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
"Today was a great day as we picked up another couple of wins," head coach Mark Klysner said. "I feel like we have much to improve on, but I think we are heading in the right direction and the guys are on board. As for winning my 100th match as head coach, I have to thank all my players who have played for me in the past and current, it's been a fun ride and now let's look ahead to 200."
The 'Birds defeated UIS 5-2, and overcame Eastern Illinois 6-1. The team is 7-3 overall, and 7-1 on their home court.
After earning the Summit League Player of the Week, Aleksa Lazarevic continues his winning streak. He defeated UIS's Alex Chan and EIU's Dani Hernandez in the No. 4 spot. With today's wins Lazarevic improves to 9-1 in singles.
Igor Kolaric picked up a win in the No. 1 spot over EIU's Freddie O'Brien.
Jorge Adair Bartra Quispe collected a pair of wins against UIS's Logan Burgess Hayes and EIU's Gage Kingsmith.
Diego Le Gal Perez overcame EIU's Mike Sansen in the No. 2 spot after dropping a three-setter to UIS's Sam Clarke in the No.1 spot
Egehan Sertkaya defeated EIU's Gertjan De Wilder in a three set match. Pol Botifoll Rius fell by UIS's Tommy Martinez in three before coming back against EIU's Logan Charbonneau in flight five of singles.
The Redbirds blanked UIS in doubles to earn the doubles point. Eastern Illinois captured the doubles point in the second match, taking two out of three matches.
The Redbirds will close out their homestand, Sunday Feb. 17 with a match against Green Bay at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
