LAS VEGAS – The Illinois State men's tennis team earned their sixth-straight win after defeating Southern Utah 5-2 on Monday, March 11 in the first game of the spring break road trip.
"We had a battle today," Coach Mark Klysner said. "We came out a little slow in doubles, and I think it all has to do with our lack of outdoor tennis. The guys always seem to step up in singles and against we fought so hard, playing quality tennis throughout the lineup. Now we rest up for UNLV tomorrow."
The Birds' fell to a 2-0 deficit after Southern Utah collected wins in both the No. 3 and No. 2 spots of doubles, and captured a No. 2 singles win as Keonho Shin secured a win over Diego Le Gal Perez. The Redbirds battled back, picking up five straight, to earn their sixth-straight victory and improve to an overall record of 11-3.
