NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's track & field teams will be all over the map this weekend, as they are set to compete in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, Stanford Invitational, and Ole Miss Classic over the course of the next three days.
MIKE FANELLI TRACK CLASSIC
The Mike Fanelli Track Classic, formerly known as the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, will get underway first, taking place from March 28-30. The meet, which is hosted by San Francisco State, will be held at Chabot College in Hayward, California.
Kevin Koski and Kimathi Johnson will represent the Redbirds at the meet, competing in the 10,000-meter and 1,500-meter, respectively. Koski will kick things off for ISU on Thursday night, racing at 10:55 p.m. CT. Johnson, who is competing in his first race since winning the 2019 MVC Indoor 800-meter crown, will step up to the line on Friday at 7:39 p.m. CT.

STANFORD INVITATIONAL
The Stanford Invitational will commence on March 29-30 at Cobb Track & Angell Field in Stanford, California. ISU distance standouts Jack Anstey, Kyle Mattes, and Grace Beattie, who were all NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round qualifiers in their respective events a year ago, will be in action at this meet. Johnson will double up this weekend, joining the group after he concludes competition in Hayward, California Friday.
Beattie will compete in her first 3,000-meter Steeplechase race of the 2019 campaign Friday at 7:28 p.m. CT. Anstey's race will follow at 9:06 p.m. CT, when he takes on some of the nation's best 1,500-meter runners in the Invitational Section of the men's 1,500-meter. Anstey, the reigning MVC Champion in the event, has his sights set on the 1,500-meter school record this season. Mattes will compete in the 10,000-meter early Saturday morning, with the gun set to sound at 12:57 a.m. CT. Anstey, along with Johnson, will also race in the 800-meter on Saturday at 4:48 p.m. CT.

OLE MISS CLASSIC
The majority of the Redbird squad will travel to Oxford, Mississippi, to compete in the Ole Miss Classic on March 30. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. CT with the women's hammer throw and men's javelin. Running events will follow at 1 p.m. with the women's 3,000-meter Steeplechase.
In addition to the Redbirds and host Rebels, Saturday's meet will feature teams from Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Auburn, Illinois, Indiana State, Louisville, Rhodes College, Saint Louis, Temple, and UT-Martin. West Alabama's men's squad will also be in attendance.
