Men’s Tennis Blanks Prairie State; Falls to Valparaiso

BLOOMINGTON, Ill-  The Illinois State men's tennis team fell short to Valparaiso, 5-2 before blanking Prairie State in a doubleheader Saturday, March 30 at the Bloomington Tennis Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

In the first matchup, Valpo collected the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Igor Kolaric and Zacharias Rankloo Rasmusson picked a win in the No. 3 spot.

The Redbirds fell 2-0 before Kolaric picked up a win in the No.1 spot over Chad Kissell. The 'Birds dropped three matches with Brian Pecyna clinching the win in flight four of singles. Jorge Adair Bartra Quispe closed out the match with a win in the No. 5 spot in a three-setter.

Against Prairie State, Illinois State earned wins in all three doubles matches, netting the doubles point.

Quispe defeated Barradas in singles for the 2-0 lead. Brandon Lew picked up win in the No. 6 spot for the third point of the match. Rasmusson clinched the match after defeating Renan Calaeffo in flight four of singles. Petersen and Botifoll closed out the day with victories in the No. 3 and No. 1 spots, respectively.

Illinois State will head to Louisville, Sunday, March 31, to face the Cardinals at 6 p.m. in Louisville, Kentucky.
