NORMAL, Ill. – Redbird women's golf is set to compete at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Sunday through Tuesday where they are picked to finish fifth in the pre-championship coaches poll. The 54-hole tournament is hosted by Valparaiso at the par-72, 6,084 yard Sand Creek Country Club.
In October the team played at the Country Club during the MVC Preview tournament. There the Redbirds placed third in the nine-team field with a three-round score of 985 (325-322-338). Two-time defending conference champion Missouri State topped the Preview with 969 (324-318-327).
"I am really excited for the Championships to get underway," said head coach Breanne Hall. "We are coming off a strong performance at Murray State and have put in a lot of extra work this week focusing on short game. The weather is going to play a factor this weekend so we need to stay patient and enjoy the moment."
Representing the Redbirds in the final tournament of the season is Caitlin Sims, Paige Seiser, Becca Black, Morgan Savage, and Tatum King.

History at the Event: The Redbirds finished fifth (914) in 2018, fourth (945) in 2017, and eighth (935) in 2016.
About the Course: The golfers will play the first nine holes on the Creek course and play the back nine on the Marsh course.
Last Time Out: Last weekend the Illinois State women's golf team earned a fifth place tie with a three-round score of 914 (312-303-299) at the par-72, 6,010 yard Jan Weaver Invitational.
Caitlin Sims and Paige Seiser played stroke-for-stroke across three holes to end in a three-way 16th place tie. Sims scored 227 (78-76-73) while Seiser carded 227 (77-77-73). Junior Becca Black played three-over par in the final round to finish with a 232 (81-76-75).
Morgan Savage finished in 39th place with a three-round score of 233 (79-76-78). Sophomore Tatum King played three-over par in the second round to bring her score to a 234 (78-75-81).
The Redbirds are set to tee off at the MVC Championship Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
