NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Women's tennis team is finishing its three-game road trip at Missouri State on Saturday, April 13 with the first serve set for 1 p.m. CT.
The Redbirds come into this match 2-0 in conference play and 14-6 on the season. The 'Birds took down Valparaiso 6-1 in their last matchup, and senior Jana Kustkova earned her 10th win this season. She is the second player on the team to earn double digit wins, behind sophomore Ivon Mihaleva, who has 11.
Missouri State is also 2-0 in MVC matchups and is 9-7 overall. The Bears are coming in on a two-game win streak against Northern Iowa and Drake. The Bears are led by Coach Mallory Weber, who led the team to the conference championship last season. Also returning for Missouri State are senior Fati Khamissi, and sophomore Ellie Burger, who both earned All-Conference bids last season. Khamissi is currently 6-7 this season and Burger is 6-3.
The 'Birds are 21-6 all-time against Missouri State, including a 4-3 win against the Bears at home last season. Illinois State has won the past three matchups against Missouri State and hopes to extend that to four this weekend. The match will take place at the Copper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri.
