CHESTERTON, Ind. – After a delayed opening day due to snow and freezing temperatures, the Illinois State women's golf team played a two-round score of 626 (312-314) at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
Caitlin Sims and Morgan Savage share a 22nd place tie after two rounds. Sims played 3-over-par in the first round, her current score is 154 (75-79). Savage scored 154 (79-75) over 36-holes at the Sand Creek Country Club, playing 3-over-par in the middle round. Becca Black is one stroke behind her teammates after carding 155 (76-79). The junior scored three birdies during the opening day of the tournament.
Sophomore Tatum King stands in 42nd place after scoring 163 (82-81) at her first MVC Championship, after not competing at the Preview. Paige Seiser carded 168 (82-86) in her opening two rounds of the tournament. The junior waits in a 47th place tie until the final round.
Drake (598) and Southern Illinois (599) are leading the 10-team field in Chesterton, Indiana. The Redbirds stand in 8th going into the final round.
The five-player squad tees off for the final round of the season at 8:40 a.m. at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
