CHESTERTON, Ind. – The Illinois State women's golf team ended the 2018-2019 season with a ninth place finish at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship. The team carded a 947 (312-314-321) at the par-72, 6,064 yard Sand Creek Country Club.
Southern Illinois topped the 10-team field with a three-round score of 905 (300-399-306
Senior Caitlin Sims led the team at her final tournament with the Redbirds carding 231 (75-79-77) over 54-holes. She finished the tournament in a 15th place tie. Sims is graduating in May with a degree in nursing. Morgan Savage ended her junior season carding 238 (79-75-84) and finishing in 34th place.
Becca Black and Tatum King finished in a 35th place tie with a three-round score of 239. Black (76-79-84) will return to the roster in fall for her senior season. King improved her game in the third round when she played 4-over-par. Junior Paige Seiser finishes the season playing 256 (82-86-88) and placing 50th.
Women's golf head coach Breanne Hall on the 2018-2019 season, "Obviously this was not the way we wanted to finish our season but overall I was pleased with the progress we made. We had a fall team scoring average of 314 and improved to 307 in the spring. I am proud of all the hard work they put in this season."
