NORMAL, Ill. – Reigning Summit League Newcomer and Player of the Year, Igor Kolaric was selected to the 2019 All-Summit League Team, the conference office announced on Thursday, April 25.
"I couldn't be happier and it couldn't go to anyone more deserving," head coach Mark Klysner said. "Igor has been a tremendous asset for us these last two years, and I wish I had him for two more. He's been a pleasure to coach and I congratulate him on an award that is well-deserved!"
A native of Birkenfeld, Germany, Kolaric posted a team-best 12-6 singles record in the spring dual season, competing solely in the No. 1 spot of singles. He boasted a 14-8 overall record between the fall and the spring seasons this academic year. In doubles, Kolaric partnered primarily with sophomore Diego Le Gal Perez, and the duo held a 7-3 record in the 2018-19 season.
The senior joined the Redbirds in his junior year after competing for Hawai'i for the first two seasons of his collegiate career. In his first season with Illinois State, Kolaric was named the Summit League Player of the Year and the Summit League Newcomer of the Year. In the 2017-18 season he finished with a team-best 18-10 overall, and 15-5 in dual play, while competing predominately in first singles.
