MURRAY, Ky. – Illinois State women's golf improved three places each round of the Invitational to end in a fifth place tie along with Bradley. The team scored 914 over three rounds (312-303-299) at the par-71, 6,010 yard Jan Weaver Invitational.
The Redbirds tied their season-best 54-hole tournament score at the Invitational. Eastern Kentucky topped the 15-team field 20-over-par.
"I was really pleased with how the team finished the tournament," says head coach Breanne Hall. "We fired the third lowest score of the final round, which gives us great momentum heading into the MVC Championship next week."
Caitlin Sims and Paige Seiser played stroke-for-stroke again in round three to end in a three-way 16th place tie. Sims played one-over-par in the third round to end with a 227 (78-76-73). Seiser improved her score by four strokes from the previous round to end with her three-round score of 227 (77-77-73).
Junior Becca Black played three-over par in the third round to finish in 35th place. Her final score is 232(81-76-75). Morgan Savage finished four places behind her teammate with a 54-hole score of 233 (79-76-78).
The Redbirds return to action for the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on April 14-16.
