OMAHA, Neb. - The Illinois State men tennis team fell by Creighton 5-2 in their Sunday afternoon match in Omaha, Nebraska.
Creighton picked up the first win of the day behind doubles partners, Mac Mease and Nick Campbell. The duo defeated Egehan Sertkaya and Aleksa Lazarevic in first doubles. Joe Hoff and Stratton Brown captured the doubles point with a victory over Igor Kolaric and Zacharias Rankloo Rasmusson.
The Bluejays brought the score to 3-0 after defeating the Redbirds in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Kolaric picked up his second win of the weekend in the top flight of singles against Nick Campbell. Jorge Adair Bartra Quispe pushed for a Redbird comeback, defeating Armando Gandini in third singles. Joe Hoff decided the match in the six spot by overcoming Diego Emilio Moura Herrera. Pol Botifoll Rius battled Stratton Brown in a three-setter, but ultimately came up short for the 5-2 finish.
The loss brought the 'Birds to 12-10 in the dual season. Illinois State will head home to host a Summit League match with Denver on Friday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at the Bloomington Tennis Center.
