ST. LOUIS – Illinois State senior Caitlin Sims has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.
Sims, who was also a member of the 2018 MVC Scholar-Athlete Team, was the Illinois State leader by averaging 76.9 strokes per round. She played in all 10 events for the Redbirds and had a low round of 72 at the Braun Intercollegiate on Oct. 23 where she tied for second of 82 total golfers.
The Athens, Illinois, native tied for 15th at the 2019 MVC Championships, and had 22 of 28 rounds in the 70's for the year. Her scoring average was also the ninth-best in the conference.

The criteria for the MVC scholar-athlete team parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for academic All-America program. Nominees must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale), while the student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institutions and must have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's rounds or played at the MVC Championship.
