NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State women's golf opens its 2019-20 season with the two-day Redbird Invitational, hosted at Weibring Golf Course. The tournament is the first of five fall tournaments, and the 10th consecutive season that ISU has hosted the event.
"I am excited to be kicking off the fall season with our home tournament," said Redbird head coach Breanne Hall. "We have 17 teams plus 11 individuals competing, so it will be a tough tournament field to start the season. Course superintendent Travis Williams and his staff did a wonderful job with the bunker renovation this summer and have the course in great shape. "
All eight Redbirds on the roster will compete in the event, with the quintet of Becca Black, Paige Seiser, Emma Sutton, Ali Schrock, and Emma Rouger representing the Illinois State scoring group. Tatum King, Morgan Savage, and Jasmine Yi will also compete in the event as individuals.

History at the Event: This season marks the 10th consecutive season that Illinois State has hosted the opening event of the fall season. The Redbirds have won event three times in the last 10 seasons, with victories in 2014, 2011, and 2010. The event – which dates back to the early stages of golf at Illinois State took a five-year hiatus from 2005 until 2009, as the Redbirds won the final event before the break in 2002 and 2004. The 2002 team total of 894 remains as the fifth-best team three-round score in tournament history.
Next Time Out: Following a weekend from competition, the team travels to Burlington, Iowa, to compete at the MVC Preview hosted by UNI at Spirit Hollow Golf Club.
