Men’s Tennis Travels to Wisconsin For Two Weekend Matches

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team heads to Wisconsin this weekend to compete in a pair of matches, one against the host Wisconsin Badgers and the other against Chicago State on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The Redbirds will take on Wisconsin at 11 a.m. in their first match, followed by a 3 p.m. contest against Chicago State.

Thoughts from Coach Klysner:
"I'm really looking forward to this weekend. I thought we played very well against Northwestern on Wednesday and I'm excited to see what we can do against another Big Ten opponent in Wisconsin. Chicago State is much improved this year, so we just have to play to our potential and that should lead to some good results this weekend."

About the Badgers:
The Badgers opened their season on the road with three wins at the Miami Invitational last weekend. Junior Robert Krill clinched the solo win for the Badgers in the singles bracket, giving him his second-consecutive win in singles play during the tournament. Wisconsin also earned two wins in doubles, with the duo of Martim and Vilela defeating Miami's Joya and Grattan-Smith, 6-4. Scott Sculley and Lenard Soha also clinched the win over Texas's Siem Woldeab and Evin McDonald in a close match, 7-6.

About the Cougars:
Chicago State will open their 2019-2020 spring season this weekend in Wisconsin. CSU and the Redbirds last competed Nov. 3, 2019, during the Redbird Invitational where they collected two wins.
