NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State track & field's multi-event athletes are set to compete at the Jack Jennett Open on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Friday, Jan. 24 inside the UNI Dome.
This will be the first meet of the season where the Illinois State pentathletes and heptathletes have the opportunity to compete in all five or seven of the events. Up until this point the multi athletes have been competing in individual running and field events in preparation for the Jack Jennett Open.
The Redbird multi-event group is led by a trio of seniors, including Jordyn Bruce and Olivia Rossman on the women's side and Jordan Wilkerson on the men's side.
Wilkerson, who was crowned MVC champion at the 2019 MVC Indoor Championship, is looking to repeat as the Valley's heptathlon champion this March. Should Wilkerson win his second-straight title, it will be the third-straight year that a Redbird has won the MVC title in the heptathlon.
While the 'Birds bring a lot of experience back to the multi-group with three seniors, a junior and a sophomore, Illinois State will have four student-athletes competing in their first collegiate multi-event. Freshmen JT Lowder, Brian Brown and Zofia LeHew as well as junior Parker Francisco will all compete in the heptathlon or the pentathlon for the first time in an Illinois State uniform.
