SAINT LOUIS – Senior Natalia Bravo and sophomore Tara Damnjanovic have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week for their performances this past weekend for the Redbirds.
This is the first MVC Doubles Team of the Week honor for ISU this season, but second award for Damnjanovic who was named the Singles Player of the Week by the MVC for her play a week ago.
The pair went to work on Saturday against Western Illinois' Laura Ballesteros and Nikhita Simhambhatla, holding them off in a 6-4 win that helped clinch the doubles point for ISU. On Sunday, Bravo and Damnjanovic led the way against IUPUI, taking down Gabbi Ochalik and Krystal Grubb, 6-3.
"I'm really happy with how Tara and Natalia have stepped up their doubles game," ISU head coach Maja Kovacek said. "They put in a lot of good work in practice and it is definitely showing in the results."
The Redbirds are back in action on Friday, February 14, at SIUE with the match starting at 2 p.m.
