Redbirds Earn Road Victory Over Host Green Bay

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team defeated Green Bay, 5-2, Sunday afternoon in Green Bay, Wisconsin to cap off a 2-0 weekend for the Redbirds.

"I'm proud of the guys today, as we played some of our best doubles thus far and that momentum definitely carried into singles play," head coach Mark Klysner said. "It was great to have Jorge clinch the match for us and take a little pressure off the other guys. We are playing better each match and I'm excited to see how good we can get."

The duo of Diego Le Gal Perez and Brandon Lew got the Redbirds off to a good start in doubles action, as they defeated Teddy Razafindratsma and Ivan Radomirovic, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot to start the match. Jorge Adair Bartra Quispe and Zacharias Rankloo Rasmusson then defeated Satchel Benn and Kentaro Mizushima, 7-5, at No. 3 to secure the doubles point for the Redbirds.

Following wins by freshman Nam Pham at the No. 5 spot and Le Gal Perez at No. 3, Quispe defeated Green Bay's Teddy Razafindratsma 6-2, 7-6, at No. 4 to clinch the match for ISU. The Phoenix picked up singles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, but it was not enough as Aleksa Lazarevic defeated Ivan Radomirovic 5-7, 7-5, 10-1 to cap off the scoring for the Redbirds.

The Redbirds will continue play at home Thursday, Feb. 27, against Summit League foe Drake. The match will begin at noon at the Bloomington Tennis Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
