NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's tennis team dropped a tough match against Drake in their Summit League opener on Thursday afternoon at the Bloomington Tennis Center by a final score of 6-1.
Drake swept the doubles matches to pick up the doubles point to start the contest. The Bulldogs then picked up wins at the one through five spots, however Pol Botifoll Rius and Diego Le Gal Perez made things difficult by forcing their matches to a third set. Freshman Nam Pham fought hard and picked up the lone point for the Redbirds in the match, thanks to a 6-2, 7-6 win over Drake's Matija Matic at the No. 6 spot.
The Redbirds will next head to Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 29, for a match against the DePaul Blue Demons beginning at 4:15 p.m.
