SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Illinois State junior Brandon Lew was one of five men's tennis standouts named to the 2020 Summit League Academic All-League Team Wednesday, as voted on by a panel of sports information directors and faculty athletic representatives from the league's member institutions.
"It's a well-deserved honor for Brandon, who works so hard at everything he sets his sights on," ISU head coach Mark Klysner said. "He is truly one of those guys that every coach hopes to have on a roster every year. We are very proud and happy for him and this acknowledgment."
Lew, a native of Highland Park, Ill., holds a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in accounting at ISU. A key doubles player for the Redbirds, Lew went 7-7 during the shortened 2019-20 season including wins in three of his last four matches to end the month of February at the No. 3 spot. He also posted a 2-2 mark in singles action on the year.
As a sophomore in 2018-19, Lew played in three matches during the dual season and went undefeated at No. 6 singles. He partnered with Cameron Petersen at No. 3 doubles and finished 3-4 overall, on way to being named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll and to the Summit League Commissioner's list. During his freshman season, Lew was named to the Summit League Academic Honor Roll after posting a 6-3 in singles and a 5-5 overall mark in doubles.
