NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head coach Caitlin Hamilton announced on Wednesday that Sean Sullivan has joined the Redbird swimming and diving program as an assistant coach for the 2020-21 season. Sullivan comes to Illinois State after a two-year stint working with a top-level swim club in the Chicago suburbs.
"As we enter the 2021 season, I'm excited to have Sean (Sullivan) joining our team and Redbird family," Hamilton expressed. "Sean brings a wealth of coaching experience from his years at the club level within Illinois. He also has a diverse background, focusing on sprint and strength training that will greatly benefit our program. He's already hit the ground running and is a great addition to the on-deck atmosphere."

In his two seasons working exclusively with the Glenbrook Swim Club in Northbrook, Illinois, Sullivan coached a trio of Olympic-trial qualifiers, a plethora of Junior National qualifiers, high school and club state champions and Speedo Sectional champions as the Club's assistant senior coach.
Sullivan has spent a majority of his professional career working with Glenbrook Aquatics, specializing in swimmer technique, while also making a stop at New Trier High School as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. While at New Trier, he worked with 11 different sports, including assisting with the boys' and girls' swim teams.
Prior to bringing his career in the state of Illinois, Sullivan served the west coast as a volunteer assistant coach with his alma mater, Occidental College, in Los Angeles, California, and an assistant swim coach with Flintridge Preparatory School in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
Sullivan received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Occidental College in 2016 and was an all-conference swimmer and former school record holder for the Tigers.
