NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swim and dive program is set to host Eastern Illinois in a swim-only meet Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Horton Pool. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m.
Seven Redbirds will be recognized for Senior Day during Saturday's pre-meet ceremonies. Seniors Chloe Tyler, Ella Turken, Mia Snow, Adi Luker, Giulia Basco, Delaney Boulden, and Maya Burkstrand are set to be recognized ahead of the meet start time.
The Redbirds enter Saturday's matchup with the Panthers after falling to UNI 202-151, in a two-day dual meet on Jan. 17 at Horton Pool. Despite the defeat, Illinois State displayed a strong performance across the weekend as the Redbirds captured five Horton Pool facility records and three top-10 marks.
On Friday, the Redbirds earned three pool records in the 400 Y Medley Relay, 200 Y Fly, and the 100 Y Back. The 400 Y Medley Relay team of Tyler, Fris, Snow, and Turken secured the pool record with a time of 3:48.64. Senior Giulia Basco earned the eighth-fastest time in program history with a mark of 2:04.10 to earn the Redbirds' second pool record on Friday. Senior Delaney Boulden tallied the third Illinois State pool record on the day and the fourth-fastest time in school history with a time of 56.00 in the 100 Y Back.
Illinois State followed Friday's performance, adding two pool records and a top mark on Saturday close out the two-day meet. Senior Mia Snow tallied the pool record with a time of 55.06 to secure the event victory in the 100 Y Fly. Freshman Ava Ostendorf added a top-10 mark with a time of 2:19.44 in the 200 Y Breast to move to seventh all-time. To close out the meet, the Redbirds' 400 Y Free Relay squad of Davis, Tyler, Turken, and Snow recorded a new pool record with a time of 3:27.29.
