NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State head coach Breanne Hall has announced that former Illinois State High School champion Dani Grace Schrock has signed a National Letter of Intent for play for the Redbirds starting in the fall of 2022.
"We are so excited to welcome Dani Grace to the Redbird family," said Hall. "Dani had a great high school career and has shown a tremendous amount of growth over the last few years. Her work ethic and competitive nature are key factors to her success, which will fall right in line with our program standards."
Schrock, the younger sister of current Redbird Ali Schrock, finished in the top-three in the state of Illinois in each of the three seasons the championships were held. She won the state title in 2018 as a freshman, and as a sophomore she took third place overall. As a junior the championship was not held due to the pandemic, before finishing as a runner-up this past fall.
She ended her senior season with a scoring average of 71.28 and shot a career-best seven-under 65 at the Illini Prairie Conference, earning medalist honors. At the 2021 IWGA (Illinois Women's Golf Association) State Girl's Junior tournament she tied for fourth and took seventh at the 2021 Illinois Women's Open. Additionally, she finished eighth at the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) D.A. Points Championship this past summer.
This season Illinois State has already broken the school record for most single-round team scores under 300 for a season through just the fall, and the squad has three of the five lowest tournament scores in program history.
The Redbirds return to action on February 7 and 8 when the squad competes in the Mid-American Match Play Challenge, hosted by Bowling Green at Lakewood Ranch Country Club in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
