Redbirds Hit The Road For Pair of Weekend Matches

NORMAL, Ill. – After playing a pair matches at home last week, the Illinois State women's tennis team hits the road this weekend for a match Saturday at Dayton and one Sunday at DePauw.

The Redbirds picked up a mid-week victory over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and then defeated Eastern Illinois on Valentine's Day to improve to 4-4 overall on the season. The Redbirds continue to be led by the doubles tandem of Jelena Karla Vujicic and Alicja Zduniak who were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week for the third-consecutive time by the league last week. Newcomer Tijana Zlatanovic also continues to impress, as she's gone 5-2 overall in singles including 4-2 at the No. 1 spot.

Dayton (1-4) split its matches last weekend, winning Friday against IUPUI, 7-0, before falling at Miami (Ohio) on Saturday. Sophomore Erica Wojcikiewicz was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week for her efforts in helping lead the Flyers to the team's first win of the season. DePauw is set to open its 2021 season on Saturday at home against Rose-Hulman, before hosting the Redbirds on Sunday.
