ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Illinois State sophomore golfer Ali Schrock has been featured in this week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, the league office announced on Friday.
A sophomore on the golf team, holds a 4.00 GPA in business. During the 2019-20 academic season, Schrock was selected to the AFNI Honor Roll, MVC Honor Roll, the MVC's Commissioner's List and a WGCA All-American Scholar. On campus, she is currently working with ISU's Grassroots Writing Research Journal Program on getting the article she has written published in their journal. She is also very active in the community where she has served with the Weibring Golf Fundraiser, Lexington Elementary School, College Mentors for Kids, Oakdale Elementary School and as a notetaker for courses on campus.
Schrock is currently second on the Redbirds in scoring average, at 75.9 strokes per round, just behind team leader Emma Sutton's 75.6 average. She has a season-low round of 71, at the team's most recent Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, where she placed in a tie for third place in the field. Over her 27-round collegiate golf career she is averaging 77.5 strokes per round.
The Redbirds are back in action on Saturday, March 20, when the team travels to Sedona, Arizona, to compete in the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona University.
