SEDONA, Ariz. – The Illinois State women's golf team looks to continue its strong stretch of play to open the 2021 spring season - a season in which the team has finished in the top half of every tournament entered - as the team travels to Sedona, Arizona, to compete in the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona University.

About the Course:Â Open to the public, this 18 hole superbly manicured championship golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr. Oakcreek Country Club is a delight to play for all levels of golfers with five sets of tees ranging from 4,419 to 6,824 yards.Â
About the Tournament: The Red Rocks Invitational has been played every year since 2006, except for last year, where the event was canceled due to the pandemic, and the third consecutive season in which the Redbirds were entered. Two seasons ago the Redbirds placed 16th in the field of 18 at the event, and was led by Becca Black and Morgan Savage who shot matching 226's, with Caitlin Sims carding a 228, as Illinois State had a respectable three-round score of 912 (305-300-307).
About the Redbirds: Illinois State is off to its best start to a season in regards to team placement since the 2009-10 team opened the season with five consecutive tournaments where the squad finished at the mid-point of the field or better.
