Summit League Action Resumes For The Redbirds At North Dakota

NORMAL, Ill. – The conference season resumes for the Illinois State men's tennis team this weekend, as the Redbirds fly to North Dakota to face the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in Summit League action on Saturday at the Choice Health & Fitness Center in Grand Forks. First serve is set for 11:30 a.m.

"We've been looking forward to this one for a while," ISU head coach Mark Klysner said. "The last time we came to North Dakota we were short some players and simply didn't play very well. Now is a chance to make up for that match and get an important win towards the conference standings. UND is a tough team and I know they will be ready to battle, but we are definitely up for the task and we will need to play some of our best tennis of the year to pull this one out."

Illinois State (6-13) will be playing its second Summit League opponent this season, after previously dropping a 5-2 decision to Drake on February 28 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Redbirds most recently competed last Saturday at Marquette, as the Golden Eagles took both matches of the doubleheader in Milwaukee.

North Dakota (9-4) won its Summit League opener on March 12 with a 6-1 win over Oral Roberts. Last week, the Fighting Hawks split a pair of matches with a 5-2 win over Nicholls State in Louisiana and a 6-1 loss to Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
