ST. LOUIS, Mo. – One week after tying the MVC record for most MVC Golfer of the Week honors over a career, Perkins took sole possession of the top mark with his fourth MVC Golfer of the Week honor this season following his strong performance at the Boilermaker Invitational.
Previously tied with Wichita State's Dustin Garza, Perkins takes over the top mark, and is one of two Redbirds in MVC history with double-digit Golfer of the Week awards, as Trent Wallace accrued 10 over his playing career.
At the Boilermaker Invitational Perkins finished in a tie for ninth place in the strong field with two rounds under-par and finished two shots under par over the three rounds (73, 70, 71).
The East Peoria, Illinois, native has a season scoring average of 71.7, which is the lowest on the squad, and of his 18 rounds, 11 have been at or under par. He has finished inside of the top-10 in half of his six tournaments and has earned Golfer of the Week in two-thirds of his active weeks this season.
After three tournaments in a 15-day span, the Redbirds get a weekend off to make the final preparations for the 2021 MVC Championships, hosted at Flossmoor Country Club in Flossmoor, Illinois on April 26 and 27.
