NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State men's and women's tennis teams will have a new indoor home in 2022, as the programs have signed an agreement to practice and hold matches at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
The Redbirds return to the facility they once called home, after calling Bloomington Tennis & Turf home for the past several seasons.
"We are really excited about the new partnership with the Evergreen Racquet Club," women's head coach Maja Kovacek said. "The staff is extremely dedicated to providing our athletes with a great experience practicing there on daily basis, and members have been incredibly welcoming. We couldn't be more excited to compete in our first home match of the season on January 28."
Founded in 1972 by a group of tennis enthusiasts who wanted to enjoy their sport year-round and share their passion for the game with the community, Evergreen Racquet Club has become a state-of-the-art tennis center with courts available for group play as well as a full line of lessons, clinics, and leagues. The club also offers pickleball and racquetball for patrons of all ages.
"I think this is a great move for our program," men's head coach Mark Klysner said. "Evergreen has so much to offer in terms of number of courts and now having live streaming available. That will certainly be valuable for our fans and the player's families. We are excited for a long-term relationship, doing some big things in the future and hosting our first home matches on February 11."
Fan attendance is free for all matches at Evergreen Racquet Club, however those in attendance must abide by all state, local and facility COVID-19 protocols.
