Redbirds Head To Nebraska For Weekend Matches

NORMAL, Ill. – It will be another busy weekend of tennis for Illinois State, as the Redbirds will head to Omaha, Nebraska, for a pair of matches against Omaha (Saturday) and Creighton (Sunday).

"We are pumped to bounce back from last week's match," ISU assistant coach Aneta Miksovska said. "The team is ready to compete for two wins on the road this weekend."

The Redbirds dropped a tough 4-3 decision last Sunday to in-state foe UIC in their last action on the court. In that match against the Flames, ISU swept the doubles matches to take an early lead but UIC rallied to win four of six singles matches to pick up the win. Tara Damnjanovic led the way for the Redbirds, winning in both singles and doubles.

Saturday's match against Omaha is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center. The Mavericks head into the match with a 6-2 record this spring and split a pair of matches last weekend against Land of Lincoln foes in Bradley and Eastern Illinois.

Sunday's match at Creighton is set for 9 a.m. at the Hanscom Tennis Courts. The Bluejays head into the match with a 3-2 record this spring but have not competed since February 5 when they dropped a 5-2 decision to Wichita State. Both Omaha and Creighton will have Friday matches against Chicago State before facing off against the Redbirds.
