WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Illinois State wrapped up a stretch of two matches in as many days on Sunday, as the Redbirds took on a talented Purdue team on its home court and the Boilermakers rolled to a 4-0 victory at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Purdue took the doubles point early with wins at No. 1 and No. 3, as the No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished as the action moved to singles. A win by Tara Katarina Milic over Tara Damnjanovic by a score of 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 gave Purdue its second point, and the Boilermakers picked up their third point with a win at No. 5. They clinched the match following Seira Shimizu's 6-1, 6-0 win over Laura Fitzgerald at No. 6 to make it 4-0 as the rest of the matches went unfinished.
The Redbirds are back in action on Saturday, March 5, when they head to Milwaukee to take on Marquette. That match will kick off a spring break trip that includes a trip out west to Las Vegas to take on Grand Canyon and to California to compete against UC Irvine.
