ST. LOUIS – For the fourth time this season, Illinois State standout Tijana Zlatanovic has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week by the league office.
Zlatanovic remained undefeated in conference play with two more wins at the No. 1 spot for the Redbirds last week. In Saturday's match at Drake, Zlatanovic defeated Liza Petushkova in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, to pick up a crucial point for the Redbirds. The next day at UNI, she bested Darta Dalecka in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (2-0) to move to 4-0 in MVC singles action this season.
Those wins improved her career record to 9-0 at the No. 1 spot for ISU in MVC matches. Overall, Zlatanovic has won her last five singles matches heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
ISU return to action on Friday when it hosts Valparaiso in the MVC regular-season finale. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. outside at the Gregory Street Courts, however could be moved inside to the Evergreen Racquet Club due to weather with a noon start.Â
