NORMAN, Okla. — Three Redbird student-athletes: Andrew O'Brien, Felix van Dijk, Parker Wisdom, have been named to the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be eligible for nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
O'Brien, a native of Clive, Iowa, averaged 75.9 strokes per round on the season over the course of six tournaments and 24 total rounds. He had two rounds at or under par, with a top-five finish at the Badger Invitational where he tied for fifth and shot a season-low 66 in the second round as the Redbirds took home the team title at the Big Ten event. He was named to the All-MVC squad and to the All-Academic Team following the 2021 season.
van Dijk averaged 75.1 strokes per round, including a low-round of 69 and four rounds at or under par. His top finish of the year – at the 2022 MVC Championship – helped him to earn All-MVC honors on the year, as the Tilburg, Holland, native also earned a place on the MVC All-Academic Team.
Wisdom, a hometown student-athlete from Bloomington, averaged 75.0 strokes per round over six tournaments with a top-10 finish at the 2022 Badger Invitational where he placed ninth. He had five rounds at or under par during the year, with a season-low three-round tournament score of 215.
