EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Illinois State women's tennis team wrapped up action on Friday at the ITA Midwest Regional, with the Redbirds competing in singles and doubles action on the at the Michigan State University Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing, Michigan.
In doubles action, the ISU duo of Tijana Zlatanovic and Lana Caculovic picked up a big win over Bowling Green's Lucy Furness and Hannah Neuman by a score of 8-2 to advance to the round of 32. However, their day would come to an end courtesy of an 8-5 loss to Northwestern's Christina Hand and Justine Leong. The other Redbird duos of Nuria Sanz and Sofia Rodrigo and Nevena Kolarevic and Silvia Pomarolli both dropped first-round doubles matches to see their tournament runs come to an end.
Kolarevic and Pomarolli then competed in the singles main draw, looking to advance into the weekend. Kolarevic fell by a score of 6-0, 7-6 to Michigan's Kari Miller and Pomarolli, after qualifying for the main draw after a pair of wins on Thursday, dropped her match to Page Freeman of Notre Dame by a final of 6-2, 6-2.
The Redbirds will have a long break, before getting back to action in January to begin their dual match season against Western Illinois.
