NORMAL, Ill.-Â Illinois State (3-9-4,1-6-3 in MVC) closed out its season with a 8-1 loss to Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Sunday. Coming into the game, the Redbirds were officially out of tournament contention, but unfortunately could not earn the season-closing victory.
Erica Moline, scored the only goal for the Redbirds, coming in the 41st minute off the assist from Julia Liguore. The goal for Moline is only the second of her career, and for the senior, it came in her last game as a Redbird. Another Senior, Dani Grgas, earned her first start in goal this season, coming away with four saves on the day.
Illinois State finishes the regular season with only one win in conference, but three on the season. The Redbirds finished tenth in the Missouri Valley, just above Southern Illinois. This marks the third consecutive year, and the only three years in Illinois State history that the 'Birds will not play in the MVC tournament.
