ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Following her third top-five finish of the 2023 fall season, Illinois State graduate student Jinyoung Yun has been named the MVC Golfer of the Week for the second time this season.
She had rounds of 73 (+1), 67 (-5), and 70 (-2) at the Clash at Boulder Creek, tying for fifth place overall in the strong field of 104 golfers. Her 67 tied her own school record for lowest single-round in program history, while her 210 tournament score was the second-lowest tournament score in program history – second to her own 204 from the opening tournament of the fall season.
In 12 tournament rounds during the fall she had eight rounds at or under par, and is averaging 70.8 strokes per round with three top-10 finishes in four tournaments.
The Redbirds have had a stellar fall season, with five of the top-10 single-rounds in program history have come during the season. The team has twice set the team tournament scoring record, first at the season-opening Redbird Invitational and most recently at the Clash at Boulder Creek to cap off the fall season. In 12 total rounds the Redbirds have recorded a score under 300 nine times, the third-most for an entire season in program history.
The Redbirds return to action on February 12-13 at the Atlantic Invitational in Lake Worth, Florida.
