NORMAL, Ill.-Â Illinois State (3-5-4, 1-2-3 in MVC) fell to Murray State (4-7-4, 2-1-4 in MVC) 2-0 at Adelaide Street Field on Sunday. The loss snapped the 'Birds three-game unbeaten streak. The last time Redbird soccer held an unbeaten streak of three or more games was in 2019. (9 games).
Illinois State started out hot with an early chance from Kelsi McLaughlin that hit the crossbar but were then limited in their shots on goal for the rest of the match. The Racers outshot the 'Birds 19-9 and edged them in corners, 4-3.
Keeper, Audrey Brown, had a season-high, eight saves, tying her all-time single-game record high from 2022 (9/29/22, Drake). Yet, the Murray offense was still able to net two which earned them the ultimate victory.
Illinois State soccer will return home on Thursday, October 12, to take on Drake at 6 PM CT before traveling to UIC on Sunday, October 19.
