Redbirds Fall To The Hoosiers On The Road 4-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Illinois State men's tennis team had a big challenge in front of it Friday afternoon, as the Redbirds traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, for a match against Big Ten Conference foe Indiana. The hosts controlled things from the start and defeated the Redbirds 4-0 at the IU Tennis Center.

The Hoosiers secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, as the action moved to singles. Indiana kept the momentum, winning in straight sets at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 spots to clinch the match. At the No. 2 spot, Arvid Hjalte won the first set over IU's Luka Vukovic before dropping the second set to send the match to a third and deciding set that ultimately went unfinished. Adrian Dibildox was also leading his match at the No. 5 spot after winning a first-set tiebreaker over Jagger Saylor, but that match was also left unfinished.

The Redbirds return to action on Wednesday, March 15, when they open competition at the Battle at the Beach in Wilmington, N.C. ISU will open the competition with a match against UNC-Wilmington, before taking on Youngstown State on March 17 and DePaul on March 19 to wrap up the spring break trip.
