NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State will begin its spring break trip with a quick trip down South to South Carolina, as the Redbirds are set to take on South Carolina State on Wednesday before continuing to Charleston to face College of Charleston on Thursday.
The Redbirds and Bulldogs square off from the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Meanwhile, for ISU and College of Charleston, first serve is at 12:30 p.m. from the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point Thursday.
The Redbirds (7-4) ride a two-match win streak into this week, after taking wins over Washington University and Western Illinois. Most recently, ISU defended their home court with a clean 7-0 sweep over the Leathernecks of Western Illinois last Wednesday.
South Carolina State (3-3) host Illinois State to end their short two-match homestand after the Bulldogs picked up a 5-2 win over Bucknell on Monday. So far this spring, South Carolina State is 3-1 at home with their lone home loss coming to Georgia Southern in February.
College of Charleston (9-4) will be playing their sixth straight home match when ISU comes to town, as the program is in the midst of a current eight-match homestand. The Cougars are 8-2 this season at home, as they have won three straight matches over SIUE, Miami (OH), and Bucknell and will look to keep the win streak alive as they play host to UAB on Wednesday prior to the Redbirds coming to town Thursday.
