NORMAL, Ill. – After going 3-0 at the No. 1 singles spot for Illinois State on its spring break trip to North Carolina at the Battle at the Beach, Nam Pham has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Men's Tennis Peak Performer of the Week.
Pham, the 2022 Summit League Player of the Year and All-Summit League team selection, has remained consistent for the Redbirds at the top of the singles lineup. Last week during ISU's spring trip, Pham went a perfect 3-0 from the top spot in the lineup for the Redbirds.
The week started with Pham defeating UNC Wilmington's Reece Falck in straight sets by a score of 6-4, 6-3, on Wednesday. He then fought back after dropping the first set to Youngstown State's Laurentiu Mandocescu to win the final two sets and pick up a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 on Friday. The senior then capped off the weekend with a quick 6-3, 6-0 straight-set win over DePaul's Leon Huck on Sunday in the final match of the tournament.
The Redbirds are back on the road next weekend, as they head to Nebraska to face the Creighton Bluejays on Friday before Summit League play resumes with a match against Omaha on Saturday.
