NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team will look to stay undefeated in Missouri Valley Conference play on Sunday, when the Redbirds (11-6) travel on Interstate 74 to take on the rival Bradley Braves (7-9) at the Markin Tennis Courts in Peoria, Ill. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
The Redbirds are coming off a Thursday 7-0 sweep of new MVC member Murray State at the Evergreen Racquet Club. It marked ISU's second-straight sweep in conference play and their fourth win in a row and sixth in the last eight matches overall. ISU is off to its first 4-0 start in MVC play since 2021, when the team went a perfect 5-0 in league play to win the regular season title.
The Braves are 2-2 in MVC play, as they head into the matchup with the Redbirds coming off a split of matches the weekend prior against UNI and Drake. Bradley won its Saturday match against the Panthers, 4-3, and lost on Sunday, 5-2, to the Bulldogs. Their No. 1 doubles tandem of Madalena Andrade and Kirstin Hailey were named the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week, after they picked up two wins against UNI and Drake.Â
