WATERLOO, Ill. – The 2023 Illinois State women's golf season came to an end on Tuesday afternoon when the program placed fifth of 12 schools at the yearly MVC Championship hosted at Greenbriar Golf Course.
Missouri State took home the team championship, winning with a three-round score of 943, with Evansville (952), Belmont (952), and Murray State (953) finishing ahead of ISU's 956. Drake (960), Bradley (966), Indiana State (973), Northern Iowa (976), Southern Illinois (979), UIC (982), and Valparaiso (1008) round out the dozen schools in the conference.
Avalon Woodward led the Redbirds with a final-round 75 which has her finishing inside of the top-10 to tie for seventh place for the Championship. Woodward had a birdie on the 17th hole, and along with 14 pars she finished three over par on the final day.
Michaela Kverkova shot a weekend-best 77 over her final 18 holes, in a round that included three birdies and eight pars, placing in a tie of 27th overall.
Kira Wolf, ISU's second-best finisher for the entirety of the weekend, ended her tournament tied for 14th place with a final-round 78 with two birdies and eight pars in the event.
Dani Grace Schrock birdied her final hole for her lone under-par score of the day, as she also added 10 pars for the six-over 78, which tied her for 27th for the tournament.
The fifth golfer for the Redbirds was Ali Schrock, who tied for 43rd overall behind her final round of 83, as she had a pair of birdies and seven pars over the last 18 holes of the season.
