CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – After recently having five different golfers named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars list, the Illinois State women's golf team has earned the 10th-best team grade point average (3.848) in NCAA Division I for the 2022-23 season.
The Redbirds are the highest-ranking school from the MVC on the list – and one of two squads from the conference inside of the top-25.
The 2022-23 Redbirds' academic success was matched only by their success on the course, as the team's season scoring average of 304.2 is the second-lowest in a season in school history, while setting school records for lowest single team round, lowest three-round tournament score, individual tournament scoring low, and twice tied the single-round school record.
Last week Michalea Kverkova, Ali Schrock, Avalon Woodward, Kira Wolf, and Dani Grace Schrock were named to the WGCA Academic All-Scholar squad, while Ali Schrock was named a Second Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American. Schrock and Avalon Woodward were named to the CSC Academic All-District squad, in addition to being named to the Academic All-MVC team. Woodward and Ali Schrock each were named All-MVC for their success during the season
