CHARLESTON, Ill.-- The Illinois State Women's Tennis team picked up two singles wins and one doubles victory on day one of the EIU Panther Invite hosted by Eastern Illinois University. All action was played at the Darling Tennis Courts.
In singles play, the Redbirds picked up three wins as Emma Lindh, Elena Jankulovska and Nicole Iosio all won in straight sets. Lindh defeated Lintz of Purdue Northwest (PNW) by scores of 6-2, 6-3. At No. 2 Jankulovska outscored Lopez of PNW by a 12-1 margin. At No. 3, Iosio played a close first set against Rasian of PNW but took over in the second setting winning by a decisive 6-1 margin where she would take the match.
As play shifted to doubles pairs, Emma Lindh and Elena Jankulovska shut out the Eastern Illinois pair of Niculescu and Lomenzo by a 6-0 mark. At No. 2, Purdue Northwest's Lintz and Rasian defeated Nicole Iosio and Zoe Limparis by a narrow 6-4 margin in a match that came down to the final set point.
Day two of the EIU Panther Invite will continue on Saturday with the second rounds of both singles and doubles play.

No. 1- Lindh (ISU) def. Lintz (PNW) 6-2, 6-3
No. 2- Jankulovska (ISU) def. Lopez (PNW) 6-0, 6-1
No. 3- Iosio (ISU) def. Raslan (PNW) 6-3, 6-1
Doubles:
No. 1- Lindh/Jankulovska (ISU) def. Niculescu/Lomenzo (EIU) 6-0
No. 2- Lintz/Raslan (PNW) def. Iosio/Limparis (ISU) 6-4
UP NEXT
The Redbirds will return home on Nov. 2, where they will take part in the two-day Redbird Duals at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.
