ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois State freshman Jessica Jolly has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after her performance at The Clash at Boulder Creek over the weekend.
For Jolly it is her first career MVC Golfer of the Week honor, and she is the third different Redbird to have earned the award during the fall season, joining Jinyoung Yun and Morgan Jones who shared the honor after the season-opening Redbird Invitational.
Jolly carded three consecutive 70's during the tournament, tied for the third-lowest single-rounds for a freshman in school history, and her 54-hole score of 210 is eight strokes better than the previous freshman mark, which she had previously topped this season. The 210 is also tied for the fourth-lowest tournament score regardless of class in program history.
This season the freshman is averaging 73.7 strokes per round, and has an individual Clippd ranking of 581, sixth-best in the Missouri Valley Conference, and fourth-best on the Redbird squad. She has two top-10 finishes this season, and five of her 11 rounds have been at or under par through four tournaments to open the year.
The Clash at Boulder Creek capped the 2024 fall season for ISU, as the team will regroup and next compete at the Sea Best Intercollegiate on January 27 and 28 in Jacksonville, Florida.
