CHICAGO, Ill.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team secured four singles wins and one doubles win on day one of the MVC Individual Championships at XS Tennis Village.
In singles play, the Redbirds were led with victories from Nuria Sanz, Nicole Iosio, Zoe Limparis and Sophie Marie Lowe. As play shifted to doubles competition, the pair of Elena Jankulovska and Sanz defeated Sudsaard and Peterson of UNI by a 8-2 mark.
"We had some missed opportunities today and tough matches. It was a long day after a rain delayed the start. We will look to recover and bring good energy to start the day tomorrow", head coach Maja Kovacek said.
Day two will open up at 9 am tomorrow with both doubles and singles action.
