BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team secured four singles victories and swept doubles play on day one of the Redbird Duals hosted at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington. The Birds will continue play tomorrow for day two of the Redbird Duals to conclude the 2024-25 fall season. Doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. before singles play gets underway at 11:00 a.m.Â
In singles play, junior Lana Caculovic defeated Zoe Adkins of the University of Omaha in a narrow three sets by scores of 1-6, 6-1, 10-5. At No.2, junior Silvia Pomarolli swept Khayli Buckels of Omaha by a 6-0, 6-3 mark. Graduate student Elena Jankulovska added on a 6-1, 6-3 singles victory against UNO's Nina Weise. Rounding out singles competition was freshman Nicole Iosio who won the tiebreaker over Omaha's Katelynn Kock by a 6-7 (3), 6-4, 1-6 margin.
As play shifted to doubles competition, the No.1 pair of Caculovic and Pomarolli prevailed over Aleyla Wooten and Luisa Renovales of Eastern Illinois by a score of 6-4. Freshman Emma Lindh and Jankulovska won decisively against EIU's Ornella Lomenzo and Charleigh Fay. Finalizing the doubles field on day one was Iosio and Zoe Limparis who bested Nina Moravel and Ainsley Heidbreder of Washington University in St Louis by a 6-2 mark.

No. 5- Iosio (ISU) def. Kock (Omaha) 6-7 (3), 6-4, 1-6.

No. 2- Lindh/Jankulovska (ISU) def. Lomenzo/Fay (EIU) 6-2
