BLOOMINGTON, Ill.-- The Illinois State women's tennis team picked up two wins on day two of the Redbird Duals, as ISU was led by junior Lana Caculovic in singles play. The Birds also recorded a victory from doubles pair of freshman Emma Lindh and graduate student Elena Jankulovska. On the weekend, Caculovic was 3-0 in singles play while Lindh and Jankulovska went 2-0 through two days of doubles play.
In singles play, Caculovic defeated Ornella Lomenzo of Eastern Illinois University in straight sets by a 6-1, 6-2 mark. In doubles play, the pair of Lindh and Jankulovska bested Omaha's Katelynn Kock and Nina Weise by a narrow 6-3 margin.
Head coach Maja Kovacek is pleased with the improvement and consistency from the team throughout the fall season. "I felt we played great tennis when we were able to get out there. Unfortunately, we struggled with injuries during this tournament. I am encouraged with how we played and the improvements we made over the course of the fall," Kovacek said.
