NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's tennis team will look to keep its strong start to the spring season going this weekend, when the Redbirds host Marshall on Saturday before traveling to Chicago on Sunday for a match against DePaul.
Action begins on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., when the Redbirds host the Thundering Herd at the Evergreen Racquet Club. Following that match, the Redbirds will travel to the Windy City on Sunday to compete against DePaul at 1:30 p.m. to cap off another busy weekend.
SCOUTING THE REDBIRDS
•   The Redbirds (5-1) picked up a pair of wins last weekend, with a 5-2 win over Chicago State at home and an 8-1 win at Washington University on Sunday.
•   ISU has been led by Lana Caculovic, who is 6-0 on the spring at the No. 2 singles spot and 5-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot with partner Tijana Zlatanovic.
•   Last weekend, the duo went 2-0 in doubles action and have won three-straight matches overall.Â
SCOUTING THE THUNDERING HERD
•   Marshall (8-2) is on a five-match winning streak after defeating Louisville and Furman last weekend.
•   The Thundering Herd will have a busy weekend in the Land of Lincoln, with a match Friday against Northwestern in Chicago before the match on Saturday in Bloomington against the Redbirds. They will then cap off the three-match stretch on Sunday in Champaign against Illinois.
•   Emma Vanderheyden is 8-2 in singles this season, and Doroteja Joksovic is on a five-match winning streak at the No. 3 spot.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS
•   DePaul (5-4) will make the short drive to South Bend, Indiana, to take on Notre Dame on Friday, before returning to the Windy City on Sunday to face off against the Redbirds.
•   The Blue Demons were victorious in all three matches last weekend against Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois and Chicago State to move above .500 for the first time this season.Â
•   Sophomore Hannah Smith earned BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week honors after a 3-0 weekend for DePaul.
