Redbirds Runner-Up, Schrock Medalist in Arizona

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Ali Schrock closed her strong play at the Rio Verde Collegiate, earning medalist honors, topping the field of 102 golfers, as the Redbirds closed play in a tie of second place in the strong field.

Schrock's 211, and Jinyoung Yun's 214, are tied for the third and fifth-best tournament scores in program history. ISU's three-round 870 is tied for the third-lowest tournament score in Redbird women's golf history, with each of the top three marks being set during the 2023-24 season. The Redbirds have also carded rounds under 300 13 times this season, the most in a season for the Redbirds.

Schrock had rounds of 72, 69, and 70 for her 211 (-5), while Yun shot rounds of 73, 70, and 71 for her 214 to tie for fifth. Avalon Woodward had a steady tournament with rounds of 76, 70, and 74 to tie for 24th with Vinisha Gunaseelan's 226 (76-75-75) and Michaela Kverkova's 228 (75-75-78) are tied for 50th and 55th, respectively.

The Redbirds return to action on Sunday, March 10 in the first of a three-day tournament hosted by Jacksonville State in Gadsen, Alabama.

ISU's 870 is tied for the second-lowest team score in the tournament, behind only Cal Baptist's 865 and tied with Xavier's 870. Among the schools to finish behind ISU include Kennesaw State (878), Butler (879), Oakland (884), Bradley (886), Missouri State (888), Wichita State (889), Akron (891), Ohio (892), South Dakota (892), Utah Tech (895), Ball State (902), Loyola (902), Evansville (905), Western Michigan (906), Eastern Michigan (916), Central Michigan (919), Bowling Green (920).

Schrock had the team's lowest round on Sunday with a two-under par 70, including two birdies and an eagle to go along with a dozen pars just two bogeys, giving the fifth-year senior her third at- or under-par round of the tournament, and seventh of the season, and her first medalist honor since April 9, 2022, when she won the Redbird Spring Invitational.

Yun was under par for a second consecutive round, finishing with a one-under par 71, as she had three birdies, 13 pars, and just two bogeys for her ninth at or under par round. Her 214 is the fourth time this season in six tournaments in which she has carded a tournament score of 216 or lower.

Woodward was steady throughout the tournament, as her final round of 74 (+2) closed her with the 220 behind – a birdie and 16 pars - her third round this season at 220 or lower, as she finished inside the top-25 for the fifth time in six tournaments.

Gunaseelan was the fourth and final scoring golfer for the Redbirds on the final day and had a birdie and 13 pars while Kverkova had a birdie and 10 pars for her round of 78.
