GLENCOE, Ala. – The Redbirds had five golfers finish inside of the top-25, including Ali Schrock who tied for second, as ISU finished third overall at the Chris Banister Golf Classic.
Schrock tied for second, finishing the tournament with a 221, while Jinyoung Yun placed 11th with a 229. Vinisha Gunaseelan's 232 saw him tie for 15th place, with Dani Grace Schrock tying for 19th with a 233. Avalon Woodward tied for 23rd with a 237 and Kira Wolf finished tied for 35th as an individual with a three-round 251.
Chattanooga won the team title in the three-day event with an 887, while tournament host Jacksonville State was the only other school ahead of the Redbirds in the field with a 908 as ISU had a three-round team score of 911. North Alabama (918), Northern Colorado (933), Queens (967), Stonehill (1019) and South Alabama (1030) rounded out the eight schools in the tournament field.
During ISU's spring break week, the squad will remain on the road, traveling from Alabama to Arizona to compete in the Red Rocks Invitational, hosted by Northern Arizona on March 16 and 17.
Ali Schrock's final-round 75 was tied for the low on the round for ISU, as she had three birdies – all within a five-hole span between the seventh and 11th holes – while adding nine pars and six bogeys for her three-over-par round.
Gunaseelan shot a matching final-round 75, as she had three birdies over her final 18 holes and was even par through her first 10 holes; however, she finished with five pars and three bogeys over her final eight holes, finishing with the three-over score.
Yun had a final-round 76 (+4), as she had back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes to get to even par at the turn onto the back nine. Over her final nine holes she had six pars and a trio of over-par scores to finish four strokes over par on the day.
Dani Grace Schrock was the team's fourth scorer in the tournament, as she had 14 pars on the day with four over-par scores to finish with the six-over 78. Avalon Woodward finished one shot behind the younger of the Schrock sisters with a 79, finishing with 11 pars and seven bogeys over the final 18 holes. Individual Kira Wolf carded a third-round 89.
